What do you expect? We live in a world where marketing pushes the idea of how great it is that guys can run to their mommies to bail them out of a flat tire. Wouldn’t want their precious little boys getting their hands dirty changing it themselves, you know.

My requirements for my daughter to get her license:

Prove that you can change a flat tire.

Prove that you know how to check your oil and coolant and change both at the appropriate time.

Prove that you can pump gas without spilling a drop on the side of the car.

Know the sounds your car makes and be able to tell when something sounds wrong.

Be able to drive a manual.

Prove that you can hook up a trailer properly.

Prove that you can back a trailer without jack-knifing or hitting anything.

She did all this and more. It’s amazing what kids are willing to do when their parents require it.

I think there was a jack under there though, just precariously positioned and not jacked high enough.
